BASIS and Finance Ministry Join Hands to Train 3,000 in Frontier Tech by 2028
Under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Finance, the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) will train 3,000 individuals in cutting-edge fields such as cybersecurity, DevSecOps, Python programming, and UI/UX design by 2028. This initiative will be implemented under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICP).
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on Tuesday at the SICP headquarters in Eskaton Garden, Dhaka, by BASIS President M. Rashidul Hasan and SICP Executive Program Director and Additional Secretary Muhammad Walid Hossain.
The signing ceremony was attended by BASIS Vice President (Finance) M. Asif Rahman, Director Mir Shahrokh Islam, and BASIS-BITM Training Coordinator Khaleda Begum. Representing SICP were Secretary of the Finance Division and National Program Director (NPD) Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Mozumder, Additional Secretary and Deputy Executive Program Director (Program Management) Md. Mahfuzul Alam Khan, and other senior officials.
Commenting on the collaboration, BASIS President M. Rashidul Hasan stated, “ICT is a cross-cutting sector that serves as a foundational enabler across industries. Given the rapidly evolving ICT landscape, this program focuses on frontier technology courses to prepare a skilled workforce for the future. We believe this initiative will open new horizons for the country’s IT sector, enabling our companies to contribute more effectively to the economy with expertise in frontier technologies.”
SICP Executive Program Director Muhammad Walid Hossain added, “BASIS’s strategic selection of courses is highly commendable. Through the SICP project, we aim to develop skilled and innovative human resources that will enhance Bangladesh’s competitive standing in the global IT sector. We are optimistic about this partnership with BASIS.”
The SICP project, operated by the Ministry of Finance in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), seeks to create a workforce equipped to meet the demands of the evolving IT market while strengthening Bangladesh’s global competitiveness.
